* Project have fun - oh i will

This is the beginning of the appropriatly titled "project have fun" and I plan on doing exactly that.
This project is what made me want to do this course it is exactly what I dreamed of when wanting to be a games artist all those years ago. When the Passion was born.

SO LETS CRACK ON.

The Rules that apply to environment design.

Environment design...... think about the problems I have here ,what do I need to do or achieve?Identify the problems, find the best solution. Execute that solution. Research, think and plan.

Get an idea, to get an idea you need to Get inspired- a lot of ideas come from the randomness of the universe but even they need to be built on. Some ideas take longer to find if you don't put yourself in a position to be inspired.

There are many things you can do to inspire yourself. I have learnt that google images only go so far. Go for a walk, look at the world around you arrange to go somewhere interesting ,Read books. Take a sketch book or camera with you where ever you go.

Some people, from my experience of education many times around will sit at there desk saying they cannot do work because they have artist's block, cods wallop.
Do anything to surround yourself with inspiration. I know that you will get little inspiration from sitting at your desk and staring at a screen, so don't do it, get up go find it. Make that idea happen.

Analyse your ideas, look at your notes, sketches, photos, if a particular idea jumps ( the light bulb feeling) out at you take it that little bit further, research that idea, get plenty of reference surround yourself . Cover the walls of your house your an artist you need visual information.

Research and Reference everything.

Start finding the solutions to the problems you have set yourself. What works? What do sent
Maybe nothing works? If that's the case Possibility of more research, maybe you were not as thorough as you thought? Do certain elements need more planning, design, analyse, design, analyse and so on.

Maybe there will be elements of different ideas that you like use them combine them see what happens.
Now you have your idea. You have decided What you are going to do, and why now you need to consider how...

and bear this in mind

Environments NEED to tell a story, Decide how to tell the story! .what story do you wish to tell? what do you want to communicate to the viewer?
Communicate it in a way that the viewer/audience understands.

Consider the different elements....How to Get the viewers attention, mood, lighting, layout.

Make sure everything works together, if it does not there is no point. Any characters, props or anything need to reflect the visual style, the mood, the story. Body language, expression.
create a believable universe.

Execute it! , you have tried everything, answered all of the questions you set yourself, found many ways to solve all of the problems, what was the best solution? You can execute any solution to a problem, but if you execute the best solution the final outcome it will turn out better for sure. So Execute it.

Preferably find a simple and easy solution to a difficult problem.
You can come up with the best solution in the world for any problem but unless you execute that solution well you may as well not have bothered. Its like creating a cure for a chronic illness and not letting the world know. Or designing something up to a certain point and not producing a final piece. If its not executed it may as well not exist.

Now to think about the problems........
